Spore Prints

BUYING SPORE PRINTS: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

What are spore prints?

Spore prints are the result of laying a mushroom's cap down on an a piece of paper or foil, and letting the mushroom release all of its spores. Spores, the reproductive unit of fungi (like seeds to a plant) will be ejected from the gills of a mushroom in very large quantities, forming a beautiful "print".

What Are Spore Prints Used For?

Once you have a spore print in your possession, what do you use it for? Let's say you have a spore print of an edible oyster mushroom. You can use those spores to grow a new generation of oyster mushrooms starting by applying the spores to agar, substrate, or an all-in-one grow bag! Spore prints are especially great for agar work.

Can You Grow Magic Mushrooms With A Spore Print?

Growing magic mushrooms with spore prints is illegal, and we'd highly advise that you don't attempt to do so. Since the spores are genuine and viable, the resulting mushroom would contain psilocybin which is a federally illegal drug. With magic mushroom spore prints, you can legally study their design, or study the spores themselves under a microscope!

Why Should I Use a Print Over A Syringe?

It's safe to say that there are some considerable benefits to using both a spore syringe and a print. However, whats the benefit of using a print? Well, spore prints are unique in that they contain an incredibly high volume of spores versus a syringe or swab. Thus, with proper storage, a print can be saved and used for a significantly longer period of time. They're also a much more beautiful, intimate medium to work with.

What species of mushrooms do spore prints come from?

All of our offerings come from magic mushroom related species, such as Psilocybe Cubensis, Tampanensis, Mexicana, and Natalensis. It is important to note that not all mushrooms are capable of creating prints, since prints require a classic "cap & stem" morphology. Some mushrooms, like the gem-studded puffball mushroom, release spores from the sides or top of the mushroom rather than from underneath the cap. It would be very hard to get a print from a mushroom that drops spores in all direction! Spore prints typically come from "Basidiomycetes" or mushrooms with a cap & stem, in which the spores are released from a club-like feature known as "basidia".

How Are Spore Prints Produced?

Our magic mushroom spore prints are created through a proprietary, sterile process in which a large volume of fresh psilocybe spores are collected & expertly prepared in secure packaging. We're proud to have a net-neutral effect on the environment while producing these genetics.

Why should I buy spore prints, when I can make my own?

We would be honored to hear that you are preparing your own prints, great work! However, due to the nature of psilocybe mushrooms and their federal designation as an illegal substance, you are not allowed to grow magic mushrooms - a necessary step in eventually creating a spore print. Thanks to our international team and meticulous legal focus, we are able to 100% legally sell you prints from a variety of magic mushrooms without any issue.

Are Magic Mushroom Spore Prints legal?

Culinary spore prints are legal in all 50 states without restrictions. However, Magic Mushroom Spore Prints like the products listed on our site, are 100% legal to buy in 48 states. Magic mushroom spores on prints do not contain psilocybin, and thus they are legal to own as artwork or research material.
