Strain Origin
This variety originated in Colombia as the name suggests. These are the original genetics known as the famous Columbian Rust Spore (CRS) magic mushroom. It is a mutated strain with orange to reddish-brown spores instead of the normal dark purple to black color. The PF Redspore strain has the same color spores as CRS, although their fruits may appear much different. In addition to unique spore color, the Colombia strain has gained popularity through rumors that Pablo Escobar had them growing on his land. While this actually checks out scientifically, there is no proof to say if that is true or not. Additionally, it has been popularized for its unique morphology and potential for research.
Difficulty
The Colombia strain is considered to be an intermediate cultivar to work with & study. For comparison, it is on a similar level to Mazatapec, Treasure Coast, or Albino A+.
Spore Features
The spores of Colombia Cubensis mushrooms are a rusty, orange-brown color, and sub ellipsoid on 4-spored basidia. Prints are generally 25-75mm in diameter. This strain is a very heavy spore depositor.
Rarity
Colombian spores are not exceedingly rare, however, finding their authentic genetics can be quite a challenge. Many vendors will give you mixed bags, unviable spores, or the wrong species all together in an attempt to trick you and offload inventory. We’ve been supplying spores since 2008 and have a team of mycologists that ensure every last batch.
Cultural Significance
There is not too much known about how the Colombian strain of P. Cubensis has impacted modern culture in Colombia. However, it is known that some indigenous groups still use them for religious & medicinal purposes. In the USA, Colombian spores have become a fan-favorite for many.
