Strain Origin
This variety was first collected in the beautiful Southeast Asian country of Thailand, where it has been used for centuries. “Koh Samui’ is a tropical island where mycologist John Allen found the P. cubensis strain growing. Since that discovery in the 1990’s, the strain has been introduced to the west and popularized for its unique morphology and high chemical concentrations. Interestingly, locals consider this mushroom to be “portal from the ground to the mind and back to the warmth of the sea”. Warning: KSSS is a highly potent mushroom that contains psilocybin. Our spores are for microscopy research only. Do NOT attempt to propagate the spores as the resulting fruits are illegal under US federal law.
Difficulty
The KSSS strain is considered to be a relatively easy cultivar to work with & study. For comparison, it is on a similar level to Mazatapec, Golden Teacher, or Albino A+.
Spore Features
Spores are dark purple to brownish, sub-ellipsoid on 4-spored basidia.
Rarity
KSSS spores are actually quite rare in the grand scheme of things. Given their remote origin, it is often tricky to find KSSS spores with authentic, proven genetics. Many vendors will provide mixed bags, unviable spores, or a totally different species thinking they can get away with it. We’ve been supplying spores since 2008 and have a team of mycologists ensuring every single batch.
